Is this an act of civic terrorism?
It has been a sad couple of weeks watching this, the last real and UNIQUE part of Salt Lake fall to the all-mighty push of making this town look the same on every block. In a Salt Lake Tribune article developer, Craig Mecham, said ““it won’t take long. They’re pretty dilapidated.” Ya think? That was the charm and civic pride your demolished you asshat! Now we get what? Condos and retail space, both out of the price range of an economically hurting middle class. Oh Wait! Maybe Bush’s tax credits will all provide us with enough money to move into another condo park, which is no different that you would find anywhere else in town. Only now the retail space won’t be filled with of unique shops and creative ideas as it was All of this is my own skeptic pessimism but we have seen things like this happen many times in this town. We are now a town of holes: one where crossroads used to be, one over on main at about 2nd and now one in Sugarhouse. That is what apathy gets you…holes.
Here are pictures of destroyed Utah cultural center. I can’t wait for it to warm up so I can ride my bike past a construction zone every night.
