I broke my headphones!

Working in radio is pretty cool. Most Radio DJ’s will let you think they don’t like it by complaining publicly about how little they get paid, or how they wish they could do something else. But the truth is, at least for the most part, that we dig working in radio. You get to meet rock stars, people come up and say hi to you in public, and I haven’t paid to see a band play live since 1996 (I think it was Blink 182 and Pennywise, but I could be wrong).

Your 16 dollars helped buy our 8th house in Malibu.

But occasionally disaster strikes. Today, my headphones broke. The headphones are to the DJ what the sword is to a samurai. The light saber to a Jedi, The spatula to the world’s greatest BBQ chef!

it's possible that I need more work to do when I’m here.

Some of you will be tempted to say “just do that thing where you hold them up to one ear.” Yeah, that doesn’t work for what I do. I wish it did, I mean it looks a lot cooler than putting some giant cans on your head like I’m about to take a 27 hour flight to Kuwait. But for radio stuff, I need both sides.   At least I know that if I can’t fix this pair, I’m just an iPod playlist away from spinning in the clubs as the world famous "DJ SoggyBottom"

Awww daaaayumm!  I shoulda run to the battroom while playing that 18 minute Avicii mix

So I’m going to throw some Kragle on this and hope to Hell it holds. Otherwise I have to borrow Ritchie’s headphones. He wears his at the gym.

Ewww.

XOXOXOX JONSMITH

Harrison Ford injured! We have exclusive photos of the incident. ..Kind of. jon | Mid Day

Harrison Ford injured! We have exclusive photos of the incident. ..Kind of.

Legendary actor, Harrison Ford was injured yesterday while filming the much anticipated sequel to Star Wars. GASP! According to UK's the Mirror News, Ford, 71, was filming a scene on board the Millennium Falcon when a piece from the set fell and broke Ford's ankle.

Our highly paid team of experts have recreated the scene with great detail.

Ford slumped to the ground, and was quickly attended to by set staff and other actors. A statement from Disney reads: "Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of 'Star Wars: Episode VII,'" adding "He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care."

I might be getting carried away here.

Sources have told several news outlets that Ford was actually airlifted to a Hospital in Oxford that specializes in fractures. I highly doubt the injury was severe enough to warrant a chopper medevac, but it's Harrison Ford. If Han Solo gets so much as a bloody nose on your set you best call in air support.

Luckily GI Joe was nearby to help with the airlift.

It's unclear exactly how long Ford will be out recovering, and what, if any changes will be made to the script going forward. For those that don't aleady know, Ford is one of several original "Star Wars" stars returning to the J.J. Abrams-directed sequel. He's joined by fellow alums Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew.

In the meantime Disney says shooting will continue as planned while Ford recuperates.

Boba Fett Walked Into a Room...

Boba Fett kicked off festivities yesterday at The Leonardo to announce the 2014 Salt Lake Comic Con, which will be held September 4th - 6th at the Salt Palace Convention Center.

With the announcement of the when also came the who.  The first six guests were announced yesterday had the room filled with applause as each name was announced. Fans can revel in the fact that Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Hercules, Burn Notice), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Saw), Ernie Hudson, Sam Witter (Battlestar Galactica), John Barrowman (Doctor Who) and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, Angels in the Outfield, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?  and a hundred other movies) will be attending. These are just six of the over two-hundred guests organizers promised.

Salt Lake Comic Con Founder and Show Producer, Dan Farr, said, "The continued fan support of these events allows us to expand Salt Lake Comic Con, already the largest convention in the state, and continue to attract the best celebrities, comic creators and vendors to Utah."  He also mentions they will be expanding cosplay features, a strong focus on comic books and their creators, premiers, Salt Lake Comic Con Film Festival, Video Games Live Night with the Utah Symphony, discounted passes and much more.

Speaking of tickets, they are on sale now by clicking here. There are three tiers of pricing. It's a good idea to buy now.  You can get a multipass for only $30.  There is a new gold pass this year and of course, the coveted VIP pass. There are also high school and college discounts.

Salt Lake Comic Con FanX, which was held in April, brought in over 100,000 people and last year's Comic Con pulled 72,000.  If this trend continues the 2014 Comic Con could be the biggest party Utah has seen since the 2012 Olympic Games.  Bring it on.

Tarantino vs. Star Wars

Bobby Burns is a clever guy.  He turned "Frozen" into a nightmare and has now filtered "Star Wars" through his Tarantino obsessed mind.  You get all the tropes, fonts and Sam Jackson, but in a galaxy far enough away. Watch this and you may want to turn any of your favorite films into an ultra-violent western.  It's what all movies in the future are built on.  Then again, you could just pick up a Joseph Campbell book and dress up any basic narrative to fit your flavor.  Check out the clip.

Hiring: Star Wars' Cantina Needs Talent

As if you didn't get enough of "May the 4th Be With You" all over your Tweets, Facebooks and Snapchats yesterday, be on notice: it isn't the 5th you've gotta be weary of, especially in a video where Daughty is painted up like a Sith.

Small rant: three films come out in the 70's with effect and characters placed in a grand place, a place far, far away.  It had fresh-faced actors and a mythology about it.  It gave birth to fan-boy/girl culture and the world would never be the same. Some years later they make three more films, none of which anyone seemed to like.  Probably because we all carry warm and fuzzies for certain childhood things.  Hell, even I grew out of 311.  So at best, "Star Wars" is batting 50/50 and perhaps less if you count the fact that many people don't like "Jedi."  I ask that we all don't get overly excited over these new films.

If your doctor were right half the time, you'd be a cripple.  Let's try and not let this galaxy cripple the culture and media until we see the "Episode 7."

Anyway, here is a video of Lisa Loeb, Ben Folds (who I will never tire of), Weird Al and a mixture of other trying to get in on this new bar band gig:
