A Pearl Jam fan had his nose broken by PJ's bass man Jeff Ament last week. It was not some on stage scuffle, or even a back stage rock and roll incident though.. It was actually a what the fan describes as a rough game of basketball. Well that's.. Still.. Kind of exciting. Right?
Sherif Hassan tells Australia's Triple J that Ament actually broke his nose during the pick-up game in New Zealand, which also included Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler. Hassan says Ament made up for the broken nose by giving him and some friends tickets to the event and backstage passes. He says the injury didn't bother him as much after he spent some time hanging out with New Zealand singer Lorde between shows and got a shout out from Eddie Vedder during Pearl Jam's performance.
Kids down unda are tough!
I'm a big fan of Pearl Jam. I'm in the Ten Club, I have my import of "Ten" with Dirty Frank on it, and I was in line at Greywhale in Taylorsville for the Midnight release of "VS." back in 1993.
So my hopes are high with the new album. Even though I thought pretty much everything after Vitalogy was kinda "meh". I've heard three tracks of the new album, and I've dug 'em.
Today we have a few new details about "Lightning Bolt." Eddie and pals recently unveiled the track list for their tenth studio effort, which is due out next month. Fans are already familiar with some of the songs, including "Lightning Bolt's" lead single, "Mind Your Manners." Which we play here on X96. Pearl Jam also showed off the title track and the album closer, "Future Days," during their concert at Chicago's Wrigley Field earlier this summer. Another song, "Sleeping By Myself," showed up on frontman Eddie Vedder's 2011 solo album, "Ukulele Songs."
The "Lightning Bolt" song titles first started coming out on the band's official Twitter account along with illustrations by Don Pendleton. Bassist Jeff Ament posted a note on PearlJam.com calling the visual artist one of his favorites, adding that it's nice to go outside the circle now and then to "work/play" with other artists.
Pearl Jam's "Lightning Bolt" track list:
