Alt-J is Sold Out, But You Can Still See Them

Alt-J is SOLD OUT for Monday night at The Complex, but all hope is not lost if you didn't bother getting your tickets. X96 will be featuring another LoungeX before their show, but due to the intimate nature of the performance space is very limited.

The only way to gain access is to win an invitation and make sure you can sneak out of work to attend. You can enter to win an invitation below. In case you weren't aware this tour is selling out everywhere and with a lot of critical acclaim over their sophomore album, "This Is All Yours", Alt-J is proving to be one of the hottest bands on the planet. NME (music mag from their home country) gave the album 4 out of 5 stars. stating, "Downbeat and often acoustic-led, the plan is to infuse their icy diodes with a more natural-sounding human warmth." You can read the entire review here.

This will be a LoungeX to remember, so get signed up and tell your friends to sign up and take you if they win. Scroll down to enter..

25 X96 Fall Music Suggestions

After last, Big Ass Show, Saturday one thing is clear: Summer is over. It's gone, baby. We are now in the season of reverence, thoughtfulness, self-reflection, warm beverages and too-soon festive decorations lining store shelves.

So, in the spirit of the changing leaves and chilly air I have assembled 25 songs that I think fit the season. It's probably not the cheeriest of playlists, but there is some great stuff here. Some of it you may know and some not so much. Some of the songs are new and some old. And yes, the list leans a little hipster - tis the season of scarfs, after all.

Feel free to leave some of your own suggestions in the comments.

(Note: This is a playlist, so hit play and let it roll).

1. Radiohead "How to Disappear Completely"

2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Skeletons"

3. Julian Casablancas of The Strokes "I'll Try Anything Once"

4. Jeff Buckley "Hallelujah"

5. Alt-J "Warm Foothills"

6. Arcade Fire "Rococo"

7. Mando Diao "How We Walk"

8. Foo Fighters "Walking After You"

9. Death Cab For Cutie "Cath"

10. Fleet Foxes "White Winter Hymnal"

11. Perfume Genius "Queen"

12. Interpol "My Blue Supreme"

13. Phantogram "The Day You Died"

14. Stars "In Our Bedroom After the War"

15. Beck "Waking Light"

16. Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins "Melt Your Heart"

17. Smashing Pumpkins "To Shelia"

18. Young the Giant "Mind Over Matter"

19. Incubus "Stellar"

Fresh X: Stream Alt-J's

Once again the future does one thing really good: it makes it so we don't have to wait for the future to hear new music. Though Alt-J's new album isn't due out until next week, the future has made it possible for you to hear it now.

The downside is the stream is on Spotify, so by the time you actually hear any of the album it may actually be next Tuesday and you can just buy it. Spotify works okay on my phone, but I only open it on my desktop when I feel like crashing my computer.

If you manage to hear it, let us know how it is.

Alt-J will be performing at The Complex on October 27th. Get your tickets for that show here.

FRESH X: New Music From Alt-J

Their music slightly rusty, but in a good way and literary in verse.  They are named after a keyboard shortcut. Their first single, "Fitzpleasure" is based on a novel called "Last Exit to Brooklyn" that isn't exactly family-friendly - nor mainstream.  Somehow, beyond all those reasons many people found Alt-J to be something unique and interesting, which is not an easy feat these days. Pop music has taken over like weeds in the modern rock's garden.

Alt-J is following up their fantastic album, "An Awesome Wave" with "This Is All Yours" on September 22nd, which you can pre-order here.
