Fresh X: Weezer

Daymnnnnn, Weezer will be dropping their 10th studio album on September 30th called, "Everything Will Be Alright."  We have been the victims of teasing the third time Rick Ocasek from The Cars has entered the studio with the boys from Weezer and it has always produced some of the finest Weezer - The Green and Blue albums.

Today they released, "Back to the Shack." Riff heavy and a slight anthemy, it's great sing along Weezer and a self-proclaimed throwback. I am not sure this is a good thing, though.  What 90s band has really mad a huge splash recently by pointing out how good things used to be. The crop has not been on fire as of late. Coldplay's album is a dullard's delight. Jane's Addiction gives it a shot once in a while to no one's amusement. NIN's last one tanked though most people really wanted to like it (NIN is probably just a great live band at this point). Les Claypool's stuff falls into the same category. Scott Weiland, well, he put out that Christmas album - something more akin to a Vegas act than Rock N' Roller.

Weezer, aside from Pinkerton, has always been somewhat light and fun and you know a Weezer song when you hear it, but declaring self-awareness ane reminiscing of days gone by may not be the way to put your best foot forward.

I am going to reserve judgment until I hear the entire album. I always want Weezer to be champions.

Weezer Tease New Song and Announce Album Release Date

Nearly four years since "Hurly" was release to an arguable "thud!"  We have our fingers crossed for the upcoming album, "Everything Will Be Alright In The End."  Last week the band release the cover art to a surprise that this wouldn't be their Purple album or Beige album.  This week Weezer announced the album would be released on September 30th and have provided, as it is Weezer Wednesday, another teaser clip the internet has gone ga-ga over from a song called, "Return to Ithaca."

Rick Ocasek, who produced their Blue and Green albums has returned to whip the band into shape for this album so we could be in for some memorable songs on this album. Even though, you could argue those albums are the band's best (outside of Pinkerton), Weezer admitted Ocasek wasn't their first choice. We are glad they had a change of heart.

Weezer Cover Band Fail

These poor kids have a major onstage disaster about 30 seconds into their cover of a Weezer song. I hope they don't stop making music, though. I want them to become rock stars and to be able to look back at this video in ten years and laugh...like you probably will if you watch it.

Who Is Worth More: Foo Figthers, Kanye West or Adele? Corey O'Brien |

Who Is Worth More: Foo Figthers, Kanye West or Adele?

Perhaps you want to throw the best BBQ anyone on the west coast has ever seen and invite Vampire Weekend to play.  Well, it will only set you back $100,000 to $200,000.  It's about the same for Weezer.  Perhaps you are having a bachelor party and you know it won't be epic unless Tiesto provides the beats.  No problem! $200,000 to $400,000 will get it done.  Who know, maybe $50k less if you throw in a pizza and some soda pop.

Deggy Entertainment has thrown together a list of a bunch of acts to help you plan your next book club with a performance by Adele (three-quarters of a million).

Get a load of the full list here.
