Here are my top 5 favorite new (or relatively new) songs that I love at this particular moment. I will now present them in no particular order.
Bastille “Flaws” It’s another great song from the Bad Blood album, and I pretty much love every single song on it. And these guys are coming on November 11th!
Broods “Bridges” Even though it is kind of a mellow song, I like to crank this one up as loud as possible. It must be the pulsating bass.
St. Vincent “Digital Witness” This song is awesome. It is part Talking Heads, part Devo, part Siouxsie and the Banshees, with a little bit of Nine Inch Nails mixed in.
Linkin Park “Until It’s Gone” Their new album The Hunting Party is surprisingly good. Remember when Linkin Park used to play guitars? They have gone back to that, and the result is impressive.
Jack White “Lazaretto” Jack White + bitchin violin solo. Need I say more?
BONUS SIXTH SONG! I almost forgot about this one! Big Data "Dangerous." This video is bloody and violent, so proceed with caution.
Ok, yeah that was my fault.. Here's the story. I saw the news today that Jack White had added tour dates to his "Lazaretto" tour, and I got all bummed that I didnt see a Utah date on there. So I started wrting a post which would include my amazing MSPaint skillz for my blog. As I'm writing and MSPainting away, I see the following under tour dates "--Oct. 10 -- Salt Lake City, UT (The Depot)--" Holy S***! How did I miss that? I was excited, and then pissed that I'd have to re-write my entire post, and then excited again. Apearantly I'm still learning how computers work...
How do I cook a Hot Pocket in this thing?
Turns out, what I saw was the tour schedule for Canada's favorite indie band "The New Pornographers". They have a new album out on August 26th, and WILL in fact be at The Depot on October 10th. the page had scrolled up while I was feverishly painting Jack White's amazing cheek bones. So my bad if I got your hopes up. As of right this second, there are no plans for a SLC stop for Jack White. Which is sad, because I think he and I would have had a great time shopping for hats.
Suck it, Smith! I already bought the last one.
Jack White IS adding a few more stops to this tour, whic now includes a two-night stand in Seattle, a show at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheater, and a tour-wrapping set at the Bleacher Theater at Boston's Fenway Park. The one thing I DID get right was the two night stay in Detroit. What the Hell dude? DETROIT?! Over SLC?!! Where's the math on that one. I demand a re-count.
Anyways, sorry for getting your hopes up. I'll spend the next hour or two trying to figure out how to blame it on Ritchie T.

One more week. Then I can break out my expensive Sennheisers, the ones reserved for the truly special albums. I'll then lounge in my listenin' chair to the new Jack White album. Of course, it is streaming on iTunes (here), but some things need to be experienced in the best of circumstances in a controlled environment.
So flip this up to 1080p and enjoy the visuals:
Slip on your velvet slippers, pour your favorite brown liquid into some fine glassware, fine your favorite chair and your best headphones because you have to wait no longer. You can listen to Jack White's second solo album, "Lazaretto" a full week before the release on June 10th. Just click here and be swept off that magical land of Apples and Jack.
So there I was two nights ago. I was embracing my insomnia and listening to music when I forgot about this podcast I had, which I managed to keep forgetting to listen to. It was about 11:30p, so I did what anyone who wants to focus on something does: I went for a walk. I walked from my house to the University of Utah and back down South Temple enjoying how nice the city can look when you only see its form. The lack of detail was good, non-distracting company. The perfect place to be to listen to my favorite musician talk about his upcoming album.
Jack White's new album will finally be released on June 10th. It's his second solo album and there are rumors of another Racountours album along with an infrequent release of music from The Dead Weather. And since he has a new album coming out he has been hitting the interview gauntlet pretty hard. The one must here interview is from NPR's "All Songs Considered" where Jack breaks down some of the new songs, his songwriting, his love of studio spontaneity and his dislike for keeping things around that aren't perfect.
If you've been waiting for some new music from Mr. White and June 10th still seems too far away this interview should tide you over.
Click here and enjoy the interview.
