Ok before I get to the story, I have to point out that i'm not allowed to use pictures on my blog because of stupid copyright laws. So I made my own. That's right, in addition to being a DJ, I'm a world class artist with MS Paint.
Alright so even though the final performance of the Grammys gets cut off EVERY YEAR.. Grammy Executive Producer Keith Ehrlich gave a big fat "I'm sorry" to Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor. Trent had a saggy diaper that leaked overthe way this year's broadcast ended. Trent sent out a profanity-laced tweet letting everyone know he felt disrespected after his closing performance with Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl, and Lindsey Buckingham was cut short at the end of Sunday's ceremony. Now Ehrlich -- who says he was thrilled to finally get Reznor to perform at the Grammys -- is telling "The Hollywood Reporter" his side of the story. He says they let the rockers know they'd keep the performance on air as long as possible, and he thinks they got pretty close before the credits started rolling. You'd think Dave Grohl would have warned him. he's been int he final super group performance for the last three years. Ehrlich says the all-star jam lasted about five or six minutes, and they got within about a minute-and-a-half of the end.
The new video from Neon Trees is awesome! It's like a trip to the 1980's :)
A Pearl Jam fan had his nose broken by PJ's bass man Jeff Ament last week. It was not some on stage scuffle, or even a back stage rock and roll incident though.. It was actually a what the fan describes as a rough game of basketball. Well that's.. Still.. Kind of exciting. Right?
Sherif Hassan tells Australia's Triple J that Ament actually broke his nose during the pick-up game in New Zealand, which also included Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler. Hassan says Ament made up for the broken nose by giving him and some friends tickets to the event and backstage passes. He says the injury didn't bother him as much after he spent some time hanging out with New Zealand singer Lorde between shows and got a shout out from Eddie Vedder during Pearl Jam's performance.
Kids down unda are tough!
We love the new song "I Believe" by Basic Vacation. We love it so much that we want to give you a free download!
As the resident punk/ska nerd, not to mention the 90's at Noon guy.. It's officially my job to let the kids know when a ska show rolls through town. Reel Big Fish will be stopping in SLC tomorrow night on their "Don't Stop Skankin'!" tour. It will be nice to see them do a full set since they were only allowed the standard 30 minutes when they were here for Warped in the summer.
Also, I'm stoked to see my friends from Suburban Legends open up the show! If you've been to Disneyland in the last few years, you might have caught SL in Tomorrowland. They're one of the bands that gets to rise up on the Tomorrowland Terrace stage and rock the kids with punk versions of Disney songs, and mad choreography :) All of which we'll see tomorrow night at The Murray Theater. Oh! and our local pals The Anchorage will be there! We saw them at the X96 Nightmare Before Xmas last month!
I can't wait to skank with the kids! And by "skank" I mean "Stand in the back and eat nachos"
See you there!
