IT'S NEW MUSIC TIME!

New stuff today! Let’s face it, so far this year the new music front has been somewhat light. Things are starting to pick up though! Last month we saw some new Coldplay stuff and a new Black Keys album which I loved. So you can imagine how stoked I was when I woke up yesterday to a new Rise Against song in my email. I was quite the happy camper. . Actually scratch that. I hate that phrase as I have never seen someone who is both happy, and a camper.

We're about to be eaten by bears.

Back on topic, the new Rise Against album does not come out for another few weeks, but the new track titled “I Don’t Want To Be Here Anymore” was 100% kick ass. Of course, you can catch the song on X96, or you can use the world wide web and watch the video here.

The other track I’m excited about is a new song from Spoon. If you’re a fan you saw the cryptic teaser titled “R.I.P.” (oooh scary!). Turns out that actually stands for “Rent I Pay” which is the first single from the upcoming album “The Want My Soul”. They debuted the song yesterday on NPR.

I liked NPR when they were just a garage band.

The studio version of “Rent I Pay” is available now, and the album is penciled in for August 5th. Enjoy!

XOXOX

Jack White Hates Glass Likes Explosions in New Vid for Lazaretto

One more week. Then I can break out my expensive Sennheisers, the ones reserved for the truly special albums. I'll then lounge in my listenin' chair to the new Jack White album.  Of course, it is streaming on iTunes (here), but some things need to be experienced in the best of circumstances in a controlled environment.

So flip this up to 1080p and enjoy the visuals:

Bill Allred Dives Into Ogden's Music History in the New Issue of

Bill Allred looks into Ogden's music history in the new issue of Salt Lake's "Revolv" magazine.  "Revolv" covers fashion, music, art, food and people in and out of our state.  Read an expect of Bill's article about a man who made Odgen his home and after many decade is still performing:

"If you grew up in Ogden Utah, or spend any amount of time there you’ll begin to feel the vibrations of a city that is bathed in history. From it’s early roots in American fur trade, to it’s rise to prominence as a major railroad hub in the 40’s and 50’s, Ogden holds its fair share of ghosts. They can be rough, loud and dangerous or full of laughter and wicked fun. The City itself seems alive with these specters of the past, and you will certainly hear echoes of their stories on 25th Street where, thankfully, some of their old haunts still stand.

The railroad station, which is the origin of so much Ogden history, still stands at the west end of old 25th. To the east, on either side of what the locals call ‘Two Bit Street,’ are stately hotels, restaurants and nightclubs, some of which have a shadier past as opium dens and houses of ill repute. The venerable brick facades and red pavers in the sidewalk perfectly complement the vintage signs and colorful awnings that line the street and give you a true sense of an era gone by. Of course, building names have changed over the years, as have their purpose, but echoes of the ghosts of Ogden’s history are still present..." You can find "Revolv" in bookstores around Salt Lake and Unhinged in Sugarhouse.
