Linkin Park's Surprise Warped Tour Performance

Yesterday (June 22, 2014), Linkin Park surprised everyone and, for the first time, performed on Warped Tour. At the Ventura, Califronia Warped Tour date, signs went on around the grounds with a surprise special announcement that Linkin Park would be taking the main stage:

Linkin Park performed a seven song set list and since it was their first time playing at the festival, they brought along a lot of Warped Tour veterans to help them out. Here are some photos from their Instagram along with a few videos from the crowd(these videos are NSFW because of language, also we apologize for the shakiness). Check out their setlist!

"One Step Closer" feat. Nate Barcalow of Finch:

"New Divide" feat. David Schmitt of Breathe Carolina:

"Guilty All The Same" feat. Mike Hranica & Jeremy DePoyster of The Devil Wears Prada:

"Faint" feat. Tyler Carter and Michael Bohn of Issues:

"What I've Done" feat. Ryan Key of Yellowcard:

"A Place For My Head" feat. Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember:

"Bleed It Out" feat. Machine Gun Kelly:

Supposedly this will be their only Warped Tour date this year. However, who knows, they may perform a couple other dates and surprise people. Maybe they will do the whole tour next year!

Jack White Wants To Be A Cotton Ball Sculplter Corey O'Brien |

Jack White Wants To Be A Cotton Ball Sculplter

So there I was two nights ago.  I was embracing my insomnia and listening to music when I forgot about this podcast I had, which I managed to keep forgetting to listen to. It was about 11:30p, so I did what anyone who wants to focus on something does: I went for a walk.  I walked from my house to the University of Utah and back down South Temple enjoying how nice the city can look when you only see its form.  The lack of detail was good, non-distracting company.  The perfect place to be to listen to my favorite musician talk about his upcoming album.

Jack White's new album will finally be released on June 10th.  It's his second solo album and there are rumors of another Racountours album along with an infrequent release of music from The Dead Weather.  And since he has a new album coming out he has been hitting the interview gauntlet pretty hard.  The one must here interview is from NPR's "All Songs Considered" where Jack breaks down some of the new songs, his songwriting, his love of studio spontaneity and his dislike for keeping things around that aren't perfect.

If you've been waiting for some new music from Mr. White and June 10th still seems too far away this interview should tide you over.

Click here and enjoy the interview.

The Black Keys Announce Tour Dates: Salt Lake's In! Corey O'Brien |

The Black Keys Announce Tour Dates: Salt Lake's In!

(Photo by Danny Clinch used with permission from Nonesuch Records)

The Black Keys, whose new album, "Turn Blue" comes out on Tuesday (and you can listen to it early by clicking here), announced the "Turn Blue World Tour" and by gosh darn, Salt Lake made the cut.  This is refreshing because The Black Keys are one of the best live bands around and because so many other bands like Nine Inch Nails and Kings of Leon have skipped us over on their recent tours (though I still light a candle they will announce SLC dates eventually).

Dan and Patrick announced their dates in a way that would make David Lynch proud.  Check out the video below and get ready for turkey season with The Black Keys on November 12th at the Maverik Center. Not to mention the excellent Jake Bugg is their opener for the Salt Lake date. Tickets go on sale May 16th. That's next Thursday, so don't go and blow all you concert ticket money this weekend.

Also, catch The Black Keys on Saturday Night Live this weekend.

Here is the video for "Fever" in case you haven't gotten around to it:
