We've been seeing trailers for World War Z since before Christmas, so it was hard for me to keep myself from being too excited for this movie. I didn't want to expect too much and then be disappointed. I truly expected this movie to be big dumb fun. As it turns out, it was two of those three.
It was big, it was fun, but it wasn't dumb. Obviously, if you're going to a movie like this, there is enough suspension of disbelief when enter the theater to buy into the whole zombie thing. With that said, the movie earnestly moves toward finding a logical solution to the zombie apocalypse that has nearly destroyed the world. I think the filmmakers cleverly steered away from the Mr. Know-it-all characters that these kinds of movies generally have. (You'll see what I mean when you watch the movie.) There are amazing action sequences, some good gags that make you jump a little, and zombies. Lots of them.
The effects are awesome, the violence isn't over the top, and the performances are top-notch. Let's face it: Brad Pitt is a bad-ass, and he nails his part. One of the best action sequences involves Brad Pitt on a commercial flight where a zombie has somehow infiltrated the airplane.
I give it 3 out of 4 stars. Go check it out!
